Got this in my change, wondering what the circular line around the perimeter is, it is raised where there are no letters (The field?) and sunken when it is on the letters/maple leaf. Also some scratching on "Elizabeth". Reverse has the usual Polar Bear on it.

Hmm... i see some of what you mean but I'm no error expert. we'll see what the others say.

This looks to me to be the type of damage which occurs when a coin is caught in a mechanical coin counter.

Scratches. On older coins sometimes referred to as "parking meter damage"
