More likely a doubled die - slight shift in working hub to working die.

Well, I'm looking forward to find another one then smile.gif

I'm not sure, but it is possible. There are pieces known from 1962 & 1963 of 1 Franc with DD dates and engravers names.

Something to look into smile.gif

1941 Walking Liberty Half Dollar - Proof-66. what is that dark toning caused by?

"1941 Walking Liberty Half Dollar - Proof-66. what is that dark toning caused by?"

Oxidation due to exposure at some point to potentially a number of contaminants, including heat, dampness, pollution, etc. The patina of a silver coin is vulnerable to anything that hits it -- BU silver coins should always be stored in dark, dry and cool environments, and away from airborne pollutants -- easier said than done...

A not so known variety in Belgian coinage.

Thanks tommyd, I was more curious about the black specks in the center. Its a type of toning I never really come across. Perhaps why I got it for a decent deal.
