Its a post-colonial coin. If you've got a 2006 Red Book, look on page 77.

Man there has been some sweet stuff posted in these recent years. The GW cent is certainly nice, but this chain cent is absolutely awesome!

1787 FUGIO CENT (Pointed rays) (Cinquefoils, States United). Note to self - take a better pic of this coin.

Vfox
1786 2 reale, in pretty rough shape.

Vfox
1785 Thaler

Graikos
Wow... Quite a speed at the moment in here. Beautiful coins. My next one is around the time of Justinian, so I can relax and enjoy the show. wink.gif

By the way... should we reach a time where years are not determinable, what do we do? Separate in decades? Or halfs of centuries?
Vfox
Somehow I don't think we will get past the early 1700's or late 1600's, even then dates are wishywashy.
Graikos
Well, you're right. Let's solve this when we reach it. smile.gif

Beautiful photograph of the last coin you presented by the way, Vfox.
Vfox
Thanks very much Graikos, it's still a little blurry, but I took the photo when I first started using my fiancee's digital, so this was actually one of the better photos I took early on. Lately though, I've always been in a rush for some reason or another, so my quality is slipping in both color correction and picture quality. A good example is the 2 mark in my omnicoin I added a few weeks ago, it's a sharp coin, and silvery-white, but the photo is yellowed and blurry. I'll be sure to re-image at least that one eventually, I really like that coin.

So back to the topic at hand, 1784 anyone? I have a 1780 austrian bullion thaler for that date if I'm allowed to display it, lol. My guess it was minted pretty recently though, somewhat PL.

I am a bit of a noob around here. Is this thread open to all-comers? I missed out on 1787 and will have to wait for 1773 to be able to contribute something if I am allowed...
Martin
Vfox
Anyone and everyone is welcome to contribute to this, and all threads. (Except the sell/buy threads, those are after 30 days 30 posts or something of the sort, read the FAQ smile.gif)
gpnyc
I'm done contributing until we hit 1699 (unless you can include currency)!
Mark Stilson
Next ones I have in the 1700's is 1772, 1765, 1762, 1740. Then just a couple 1600's 1696 and 1661
elverno
I've got a 1751 and a couple of awful pieces from 1781 and 1782.
thedeadpoint
I think we should include currency at times like this.
Vfox
I got a bunch from the 1770's because of those wonderfully worn half pennies, but little else......1784 anyone?!?!! smile.gif
BigCanadianM
God, I wish I had something (A nice, big, worn hunka copper! wub.gif) that old!
roaddevil
same smile.gif ^_^ ahhhh
Mark Stilson
Need to wait some until Ian makes it around he has a couple from 1784. (Did a search on omni. ) Looks like there is three pages of coins from 1780 to 1784. With a ton of the Maria Theresa thaler restrikes. And a few original 1780 coins.
tommyd
Currency counts! The original premise was 'anything numismatic' as long as it's in your possession... biggrin.gif
dustin43160
haha im way behind in years!!! the oldest i have is and 1846 copper!!!
roaddevil
i have 1 chinese in the 1736-1790 range so i have heard tongue.gif hmm if we r stuck anywhere in that period ill keep it in ^_^
frank
My collection of French coins and jetons starts from c. 1550. I should be able to fill in a number of dates in the 17th century --as soon as I get them all photographed! If Ian is watching this thread he could probably do most dates all by himself.
tommyd
1784 anyone?? Can't stop here!
tommyd
Are we really dead here? Stymied by the year 1784?????????????? help.gif
dustin43160
i wish i had something that old!
tommyd
1784 !!!!! help.gif
Vfox
I think we may have found our answer, 1784 is as far back as we can go without missing a year. If we continue with decades though, I bet we can get MUCH farther!
tommyd
cry.gif
Ętheling
I thought for a minute that i might have had a 1784, but alas it's 1783.
thedeadpoint
ADDDD NOTES!
Mark Stilson
Ian where are you? Help us out Bud.
Mark Stilson
Bump.
ElleKitty
1784, eh? It isn't in the best of conditions, but it's 1784. smile.gif

tommyd
