Obverse: Bavarian Prince Regent Ludwig, bust left., as Protector of the museum. Inscription, “ Ludwig, Prince Ruler of Bavaria. The German Museum’s noble protector.”

Reverse: Worker and owl in huge gear. Inscription, “ 1903 Munich 1913.”

This is a little known early piece of Goetz’s and a dupe to my cast silver piece. I find it interesting that this piece was cast so thin in comparison to the silver example weighing in at nearly 120g. Nonetheless, I am very happy with it.

That's a wonderful medal.

The science (owl) and the hard work (the hammer) used by the strong men (German) build the most advanced industry (the gear)... Very real for the early 1900's and even for the late 1900's!
Here I think is the complementary part of the Goetz's genius: he know to depict in very simple symbols the main ideas.

The colors are very yummy on this piece. It looks like gold. A nice contrast to the white medals. I bet it stands out in the cabinet!!
