A New Zealand company says it is disappointed that golfing legend Jack Nicklaus says he can't remember endorsing its collectors' edition gold coins.

New Zealand Mint produced 113 gold coins with Nicklaus' face and signature on them, saying they were worth between $14,000 and $30,000 each.

But yesterday, shortly before the New Zealand launch of the coins, Nicklaus said he didn't know anything about them.

He and Royal Bank of Scotland sure made out like bandits on the £5 commemorative issued in Scotland back in 2005. Jack Nicklaus got a huge endorsement deal, and his ads for Royal Bank of Scotland were even shown in the USA where Royal Bank of Scotland is taking over a large number of US banks.
