Nice coin! For some reason I don't understand, Catherine II's later roubles are low relief and usually softly struck. A comparison of roubles from the 1780's compared with those of the 1760's will show the superior, deeper strikes of the earlier coins.

The technology did not go backwards, so why did the coins?
