I think you may be being thrown off by the double border on the edge, the circle around the figures, and the final edgework. If you follow the edgework around it appears only slightly larger than normal, which is most likely from the second striking.

I love the coin though, that old error type is something I'd love to have in my personal collection. There is just something about mistruck coins from pre 1900's that just strikes my fancy.
