Sir Sisu
This coin was a one year type issued to commemorate the markka before the switch to the euro. They were all issued in a blister card and the coin is encased in hard acrylic. I wanted to free one to put in my coin album. On a Finnish site I read that one collector removed the coin by boiling it in water. I thought to give it a go. tongue.gif So here is a slide show from the pictures I took. There is a small description at the top of each photo. (You can select how long you want the photo to display form the dropdown menu at the top right if they go too fast.)

It required a few boiling sessions, but the acrylic eventually seperated from the coin. (There was a layer of plastic as well.)

Wow! That's a lot of work to retrieve that coin. It's a great looking coin.
