I have a coin, supposed to be gold, that my grandfather carried with him in his wallet his entire life. He got the coin when he was in the calvary in 1917. When he passed away my father got the wallet and just put it in a safe deposit box. I inherited the box and contents when my father passed away and just now am trying to get information on this coin. I have searched the internet but have only found other coins that are close but no match to this one. It may be a fake for all I know. The only thing for sure is that he got it in 1917 and now I have it. On the front it has a picture of a woman with long hair and the following words around her.
CAROL 1111.D.C HISP.ET IND.R. 1792
The back of the coin has what looks like a coat of arms with an 8 on the left side and an S on the right with the following words around the coin.
IN.UTRO.FELIX. AUSPICE.DEO.

The picture of the front isn't a woman, but a man (king Carlos IV of Spain).
With this data we don't know the ceca : Lima, Mejico,Popayan,Nuevo Reino,Potosi or Santiago).
In spanish catalog (Del Tremis al Euro), the price for this coin is 600 euros.

Depending on the size and weight of your coin, it could be 1 escudo to 8 escudo coin : 1 escudo is 3,38 gr, 2 escudo is 6,77 gr, 4 escudo is 13,54 gr and 8 escudo is 27,07 gr.

No matter what intrinsic value this coin has, it has a value far more for having been in the family for 90+ years. I have an 1867 US 2¢ piece that one of my Grandfathers got from his older brother in 1897 when he was injured by a corn husking machine and lost his pinkie finger. His brother gave him the 2¢ piece to spend at the candy store so that he would feel better, but instead he saved the coin and gave it to me in 1976.

Any idea where I could find a picture of my coin to compare with???

I have never taken close ups like this before so I have included all of them, some were with flash, some without, and at different angles and distances.

Unfortunately it's a replica made of brass. On the "tails side", just slightly to the right of the bottom-centre, you can see a "copy" stamp.

Hate to give you bad news, but what you have is a cast brass replica. It's not a genuine coin.
