I have a coin, supposed to be gold, that my grandfather carried with him in his wallet his entire life. He got the coin when he was in the calvary in 1917. When he passed away my father got the wallet and just put it in a safe deposit box. I inherited the box and contents when my father passed away and just now am trying to get information on this coin. I have searched the internet but have only found other coins that are close but no match to this one. It may be a fake for all I know. The only thing for sure is that he got it in 1917 and now I have it. On the front it has a picture of a woman with long hair and the following words around her.
CAROL 1111.D.C HISP.ET IND.R. 1792
The back of the coin has what looks like a coat of arms with an 8 on the left side and an S on the right with the following words around the coin.
IN.UTRO.FELIX. AUSPICE.DEO.
I have pictures but am not able to get them to download to this message. I get a message that says it is too big to download. The picture is only 540k. I would be glad to email the pictures to anyone that may be able to help.
