I found this in change the other day, but I can't tell if it's a real rim clip or just damage. I leave it to the people with a little more expertise in this stuff!

No expert here but it looks like a clip to me.

Only thing that throws me off is that on the opposite side the coin isn't bulged at all. From what I've been told, a real rim clip leaves the other side of the rim (in this case the right side) a tad bulged or wider. Any thoughts?

The Blakesky (sp?) effect is a sure indicator of a clip, but is not always present.

Looks like a real clip. If it had been cut off it would have been staright and this is slightly curved. If it had been shot with a gun it would have been a bad shot and the edge would have been bent over. IF it had been bitten of there would still be teeth laying around. laugh.gif

there is a very small blaksley effect showing.. right across from it you can see a very small area when the field and the rim become one.

So there is! Coolness, I wasn't sure what I had when I found this thing, but now it's the first real error coin I've ever pulled from circulation other than the blank cent I found last month. Not worth much of anything no doubt, but still neat-o!
