Compared to the other notes I have seen on this forum my notes arent really that bright.

This note comes from Turkey. At the time I bougth it, it was worth R12,50 in the South African dinomination.

Someone told me that it is now obsolete.

Now this note I can honestly use to wipe my nose. Worth nothing and I think obsolete due to the stuff happening in Zimbabwe.

Nice notes, Recato! I think you'd find a better tissue fo ryour nose than that Zimbabwe note, though! smile.gif
And don't fret about the 'modest collection' you say you have, either. . . I can remember when I had only one worn French banknote for many, many years. It is still my favorite piece ever because of that fact.

Thanks for posting the images!

Yes, your Turkey banknotes is no longer in use. They took away quite a few zeros at the back of the denomination to ease their headaches. As for your modest collection, as long as it is a collection, it is an important achievement for anyone. Whatever values and condition of your banknotes, they have sentimental value that is far greater than the actual value. I am sure, you have bought this Turkey note in South Africa since you mentioned it's worth in South African denomination.

I have a Straits Settlement 1935 $1 KGV banknote which has many holes on the note, but the sentimental value greatly outweigh it's worth since it was given to me by my grandfather who passed away in 1976. That was a long time when I was still a small boy. I am still keeping it with me today.

Keep up the achievement in your collection. Soon you will find your collection becoming a large and interesting one in the years to come.

well i got 2 turkish notes from my friend last year (he is turkish and he is with me in school since the 1st grade)one of them was really brutely handeld its black from use its half cut in all angles and fells like something that was in your pocket for 20 years and the other was also cut in some angles with a little blackining. the point is both are worth less now but atleast u have something to collect notes and in my case to remember ur friend after a few years when ur older.

Well said clapping.gif smile.gif

Every collection is unique. There is no neccesity to compare. It's a personal achievement over many years or even a lifetime. You can share your achievement with us in the form of showing your notes in banknotebank.
