Several things going on here ... the clipped planchet would seem to indicate that it might be a genuine piece. The edge is the correct type. The seller seems reputable, guarantees authenticity and offers returns.

However, the ribbon at the bottom of the wreath on the reverse looks odd:
Pyatak 1790-KM

The only coin for 1790-KM in Brekke which has this ribbon is a novodel (Brekke No. 285, ill. at 1787 No. 263), yet the clipped planchet would be most unusual for a novodel, wouldn't it?

Also, the mintmark is very large ... I am aware that there are varieties of large and small M/m, but I've never seen the letters this big before.

Opinions, please?

It appears to be a genuine circulation issue. The ribbon at the lower part of the wreath seems normal.

I second RWJ's take on it. Nothing seems out of place for the piece.

I don't see anything unusual either. Probably too paranoid about counterfeits, Bobh? grin.gif

Thanks, RWJ and everyone else ... I could have saved us all some time, had I first looked at my OWN coins instead of the catalog. I have a 1791-KM which has the exact same ribbon! doh.gif
