Loyal Citizen.

Coming to Baltimore or not? If yes, then what date? I think there may be more us (people interested in Russian coins) than Russian coins available for purchase. smile.gif Any thoughts?

How do you think, what to expect there (pricing and will be there coins to buy or just wasted time again)?

Best regards,
WCO

P.S. Would be more than glad for any comments of any person interested in this topic.

Hi WCO,
normally, I attend the Baltimor Coin Show. However, this time I am not sure yet.
It starts (the dealer's day on Thursday, 11/9). Expect to pay $100 at the door to enter there (about 9:30 am). There are normally 1000-1100 tables, 95% of them are for the US coins.

So, you're basically right in your assumption that there will be more Russian collectors than Russian coins. However, I did manage to buy some nice coins last year. You never know...
Good luck anyway !

If Alex Basok is there then Russian coins will be very well represented.

He has not been there for, at least, last 3 years .

Loyal Citizen, thank you. About my thinking. I was on that show couple times, but not the last two years. Certainly you never know what will find there. Lots of people I know coming this year. It's a pitty you will not be attending.

My best wishes,
WCO

Best of luck there - I'm not in the US so I don't know what's going on there. However here is a general tip that I found with dealers here although I don't know if it applies there.

Always look for world coin dealers and if they don't have much stuffs under Russia, Soviet Union, etc, ASK THEM. smile.gif This as well applies to precious metal sellers. My god - do you know how shocked I was when a seller didn't bother to display his Tsar gold coin HOARD (as in 50+ 5 rubles) and was worse was that he had a platinum coin and a poltina in gold stashed away - only to get sold sometime later since a buyer saw it over my shoulder wallbash.gif Fortunately, what was in there was the 1730 Anna ruble too that I bought promptly and never regretted ever since. Never hurts to ask. biggrin.gif

It does seem ridiciously dumb but that was where I got some of my scarcer rubles and kopeks. Now dealers here recognize my face when I go and sometimes what's scary is that even the buyers are starting to recognize my presence in the coin fair here. Time to wear a camoflage next time. laugh.gif
