Full Version: What kind of error is this?

This is quite an unusual bunch of coins that I have. All of them except for the proofish coin that I have, all of them do have similar type of "flaw".

At first I thought it might be die polishing, but that doesn't make sense as all of them seem to have different characters unless all of them happned to be struck by different dies. And next I thought it was planchet flaws which maybe possible. The most obvious one would be the bottom row, the middle coin and you can see awful streaks in them.

What do you think? confused1.gif The only thing I can give you extra infomation is that they are all alunimum coins, and they were minted in 1945, the year when Japan was near it's end of WWII or probably when it did end when these coins were struck.

I will try to post individual photos later.

they were just struck on really bad quality metal.... those steaks are impurities in the metal...

One doesn't normally find these many awful Japanese coins in a single batch!
