I personally believe it's a counterfeit. I'll let the others share their opinions.

Welcome to coinpeople by the way!

It's fake. I had some expirience with similar piece.
Look at the shield - it will be clear

The original poster has already been told that their item is a fake on a different forum.

There are a number of obvious indicators. For example, look at the shape of the cross on the orb and its position in relation to the wing feathers.

Ian,

It seems to me that you have images of the genuine coin. Could you please up-load them so I could also compare it with my coin?

By the way, the people in the other forum encouraged me to put the post in this forum.

Thank you.

This is an excellent example from the Yale library:

http://www.library.yale.edu/slavic/coins/h...001.87.312.html

The first thing that should strike you is the overall appearance of Anna is somewhat wrong. As well as, the font inscribed is just not right. There are many examples to be listed as well as examples on the net (just hit 1738 ruble and you should be able to find plenty of examples)
