This is my new purchase. I had seen this type struck offcenter before, but never this far off.

25%-30% ?

Anyhow, a great addition to my collection

Nice collection!
belg_jos
Well, this is one of my greatest additions to my collection.

This is a 1 frank coin from 1955, Flemish version (Dutch, KM # 143.1). Normally is this coin in coppernickel, but it has been struck on a copper planchet of the 50 centimes coin (type Minor, KM # 148).

If anybody has something similar for sale/trade, let me know.

You have some amazing errors. The color on the above coin is very pleasing to the eye, I bet even more so in person.

I find the 1922 Dutch Legends coin to be especially cool.

Yes, it is a really great coin. I paid a lot for it, but I simply had to have it (sometimes you have that feeling smile.gif )
In errors it's even more difficult to let something escape. All I encounter, I end up buying...

I've scanned two other off center punched centerholes for you. (but also for everybody else wink.gif )

5 centimes 1910 Dutch legends (coppernickel):

25 centimes 1946 French/Dutch legends (Zinc):

The 5 centimes is also one of my favorites, because of the floating piece of metal. Really nice smile.gif

Thanks for your comment

Two other nice ones that have been in my collection for ages, but need some exposure smile.gif

Great!

I have replaced all the pictures from Omnicoin by my own. So the die breaks should be even clearer wink.gif

The big copper ones (5 centimes) aren't that easy to find. They are much easier and common on the coppernickel coins.

Since my time at CP, I've seen a bunch of coins with diebreaks running tangentially through legends. I'd love to know the premium of one of those and find one for myself.

I think you can't really talk about a premium for die breaks on non-US coins.
There simply isn't a demand for it, and also not enough knowledge about them.
Every piece ever minted exists with die breaks, so it will take a while to find one that is worth much more than another. The supply is simply to big.

UScoins are a total different story, as you may know...

I went to my very first meeting of the coinclub where I registered today, and received a warm welcome. Many of the members were glad that they finally had someone to sell all those bad coins to, so I opened my wallet and swapped some cash for new pieces for my collection.

Sweet!

This one was the best one today:

25 Centimes 1971 - French Legends - Struck twice Off Center

IPB Image

I had already a small dozen of off centers of this type, but this is my very first doublestrike. Ok, it might not be the best piece ever, but for me, it made my day! smile.gif

50 Francs on a 1 Franc Planchet

Jos
thedeadpoint
Cool! but that can't be the only error you picked up, eh?
belg_jos
Indeed, it wasn't the only one. The others where just small errors. 10-20% offcenter of coins I already had. Just other dates. Not really worth to mention.

The more spectacular additions of this weekend, are die varieties. I don't really think that CPeops would be interested in that. They are not mentioned in the Krause, nor in the Belgian catalogue (Morin).

The only one that I can show, is a die rotation. I already had a 90° rotation of this coin, but my girlfriend found a 150° rotation. What an addition (both the coin AND the girlfriend smile.gif )

5 Francs 1943 - French Legends
IPB ImageIPB Image

I left it in the holder that I got it in.

For 3 euros (about $4)! Hard to leave that behind...

Jos

Wow, a girlfriend that understands die rotations? Nice coin too... tongue.gif

Yeah, it's a real keeper smile.gif
belg_jos
Well well well, what do we have here?

This looks like a really nice broadstrike of a 1 Franc 1965 - Dutch legends, struck through a piece of scrap metal, and with nice doubling on the reverse.

This joker measures 22.4 mm instead of the normal 21 mm.

Cool, multiple errors, probably not valuable in Belgium like if it were a USA error like that here.
belg_jos
And here is a new one. Not only in nice condition, but again nice die cracks, and also some strange die damage on the lion.

Paid a bit more than I wanted, but I had to have it smile.gif

No, their not. The rim is even all the way around. The holes are punched after the planchets are stamped out of a plate, but before the coin is struck. When the hole isn't in the center, the material flows, and this results in a hole that isn't perfectly round.

Jos

This one got delivered today. The hunt was long and hard, but here he is.
The very first large diebreak on a Leopold I silvercoin.

I've seen some diecracks, but this is the very first large break on this type I've seen.
You could say, I'm happy smile.gif

Hard to say. The large errors would add up to about 300. But when you add the clashed dies, lamination errors, diechips & cracks, I think I will get close to the 1000-mark.

But still not enough smile.gif

And the search for die varieties is still on too, so there is still enough left to look for biggrin.gif
belg_jos
Just won my very first slabbed Belgian error. A nice day biggrin.gif
