Ok im new here, i found this site looking for the value of this coin i found out in my field. It's a 1825 john quincy adams coin, well actually i dont know if its a coin or token. Its a bronze color, it has his picture on the front and above his picture it says 6th president u.s.a.On the back its kinda hard to read but i think it says the diarist at the top and then it has some kinda passage that i can barely make out. Do ya'll have any idea if its a metal, coin or token and how much it might be worth?

Sounds like one of those Gas station give aways.
They sell for a dollar or two.

Or...It could be some sort of political token. That would be worth much more. A picture would help.

Thanks for the info. I thought i found a rare coin worth millions. Anyhow i'll put it with my collection even if its just worth a dollar. How can you check it out and make sure its worthless? I have been to every site there is and i cant find it anywhere.

Shell Oil Co gave these away as promos during the 1970's. You would get a folder, with cutouts to insert these coins. As you made successive fuel purchases over time you were supposed to be able to get up to Richard Nixon, the then current President. They also did a dinosaur series.

I remember Arco Petroleum giving out Noah's Arks, and then you would get animals later to fill the Ark with. Wisht I had kept them, they are probably worth something as a tacky collectible now.

Well, Its not a coin because it has no denomination or issuing country so it has no spendable value. Theres lots more coin collectors than token collectors. Check out eBay. Theres lots of similar tokens selling, or not, for a few bucks.

Shell did something similar here, except the series was related to aeronautics(?): airplanes, hot-air balloons, etc. I will see if I can scan one of mine.

Shell "Flying World" tokens

Those are not mine but another collector in Finland.

I have the Bleriot, Piccard, Comet, and Gagarin. And mine are not as nice as those pictured. tongue.gif
