The mailman was nice today and brought me a fractional banknote: 10 Cents from 1863.

This is my second fractional currency banknote and I thought that some others might like to see a size comparison of it.

Dave M
Why its just a *fraction* of the size of that dollar! hysterical.gif

New Samoa notes - Very bright and colorful! They have low serial numbers, but the 10 adn the 20 Tala banknotes are the same serial numbers... kinda' neat I guess.

Thanks! I saw them and jumped on them as the seller I got them from usually has the lowest prices for new notes like these. I was afraid that if I missed them they'd be too much elsewhere.

Yes it is indeed a "pokerchip" note, the last $10 United States note ever produced! Nice funny back Dave, it looks to be in excellent condition!

What series is your note?
jtryka
It is a series 1923, Speelman-White, that was the only one, they are all that series and signature combination.
Dave
Whoo-hoo! I've been waiting for these with eager anticipation.

Just receive this note free from a NZ collector friend. First Prefix Year 2003 (AA 03 005555) and it's a $5 Denomination. Although condition not very good but it is the 5555th produced in the year of 2003.

Jeff, I'm completely unfamiliar with those great notes. What do you think of them? What series are they? Are you going back farther in your collection?

The first is an 1891 Martha Washington $1 silver certificate. The second is a series 1869 $1 legal tender (similar to the 1917 design, but this one has a rainbow of color on the face, and a different back). The last is a series 1862 $1 legal tender, the first of the "greenbacks" with Salmon P. Chase on the face (he was secretary of the treasury under Lincoln). This one is printed on very thin paper, unlike the normal cotton linen fiber of later issues. So, yes, I suppose I am going earlier, and might have another 1869 note added soon!

Yes, it's the 1975 issue. It took me a while to locate one of these, but I finally got one. Has to be my favorite Indonesian note... well, at least for now! wink.gif
