Recently,I bought 3 very nice notes from a certain member from Minnesota,Alex (Friedman);]

Bahamas 2001 $1.
Bahamas 2002 $1.
Singapore 1990 $2.

I received in the mail this morning a 50p. British postal order issued on the 4th of April 2005 in Cyprus here; 'UN NICOSIA BFPO 567. 04 AP 05'.This is interesting as it is a Field Post Office issue. This is a remainder issue, because the regulations on the back include the following clause 'This Order is issued in accordance with the relevant Scheme or Schemes under Section 28 of The Post Office Act 1969.' This Act has since been repealed & replaced with a new Act in 2000.I'll get more information later.

If you have bought anything in the banknote line, could you please leave a posting (including photos,if possible).

Aidan.
Friedman
Glad you like them!

Got this from a friend. Still waiting for it to come in the mail.

This is what I got today from a thrift store here, will post pictures soon as I can if anyone is interested.

1967 one peso Bank of Mexico
1968 one dollar Bahamas Monetary Authority (2 of them)
1990 one dollar Bank of Jamaica
1992 two dollars Bank of Jamaica
1991 five dollars Bank of Jamaica (2 of them)

So now someone please tell me what is the most I should have paid because I don't know anything about this currency, they looked nice and I bought them. I will blame all who have posted such nice pics of bank notes and forced me into addiction! doh.gif doh.gif
daggit
Oh, are the Bahamas notes really 1968 or do they all say that? blink.gif

They're "Law" 1968, but could have been printed as late as 1973.

Oh andI got a scanner so as soon as I have time you'll be able to actually to see my notes as opposed to the barrowed scans.

Alex,I know these are from Jordan. When were these issued? The AH & AD dates are there somewhere.

I picked up a plastic 1 Pound note from the Isle of Man last weekend.I knew that it was the Plastic Pound,as it is the only green coloured one.All
the others are purple.

Great notes. But wheres the crinkles? confused1.gif Aren't they all supposed to be crinkled? cry.gif
Friedman
Hey...told you these were barrowed scans! My actual notes dont have any crinkles really either. Except MAYBE the 1950s 100 Kroner (The one that looks like a giant postage stamp.) but even there it just looks more aged then circulated a whole lot.

Friedman:

That is really nice and impressive banknotes! hi.gif Are you a specialized Norweigan collector? Only a 1000 norweigan crowns bank note have about the face value as a 100 and a 50 USD bill, and the collector value are much higher especially if unc.

Today I got in the mail a Macau 50patacas 1981 (presidente signature), Macau 10patacas 1995 Bank of China (in collection because of a AA prefix) and a Portugal 1982 26/10 1000 Escudos banknote.

Not...really. It is one of my favourite areas of collecting, but its not my only country.

Your Macau notes sound nice, got any pics?
San_Miguel98
nice notes alex! i esp. like the newer notes with the hologram strips. sorta look like giraffe seahorses if you squint your eyes a little. tongue.gif

Here are the pics of the two Macau banknotes:

It is the front of the 10 pataca 1995 banknote from Banc of China, Macau branch. It shows a lighthouse were you get a comanding view of the city and taipa island. The houses beside are from the old portuguese fort, but now much modified.

user posted image

Back of the same note. Shows the Banc of China head office building. In another topic I am going to write soon, I shall tell more about this.

user posted image

It is the front of the Macau 50 patacas 1981 banknote. It shows the portuguese national hero, Luis de Camoes (he is blind in one eye and not winking as some people thinks). The banknote comes with the presidente signature.

user posted image

Back of the banknote. I had to use my uncirculated 50p (without presidente sign) for this picure as the other was to dirty to get any good focus on the details (they have the same back motifs). It shows a scene over the city from the 19th century.

Yesterday,I bought 2 banknotes from Uganda depicting Idi Amin on them.They are a 10 Shillings & a 20 Shillings,which I didn't have.The guy
I bought them off has also got a 100 Shillings for me.There are several signature combinations in the Idi Amin series.I had a 5 Shillings & a 100 Shillings. The 100 Shillings I am buying next week is one of the other signature combinations which I don't have.He let me have the 10 & 20 Shillings for NZ$15,which was just under half his marked price.

I also bought a New Zealand 5 Shillings unoverprinted British Postal Order with counterfoil still attached. It was issued at Dunedin on '6APR 1964' (6th of April 1964).I paid NZ$15 for it from my boss, who is a coin dealer I help out on a part-time basis.

Alex, those are nice banknotes from Mauritius & Ulster. Both the Ulster 10 Quid notes are very colourful. Is the Northern Bank one from the new series that recently came out,or is it from an older series? The Ulster banknotes have a very strong influence from the Scots trading bank notes.A lot of people get confused between the notes from Ulster,& the ones from Ireland. The Ulster banknotes are inscribed solely in English,
whereas, the Irish banknotes are inscribed in both Erse & English.

Aidan.
Friedman
Yep, it's one of the new ones. The bank got robbed by the IRA and they had to change the colours on the notes.

Well, Friedman, you bought some of KWB's more expensive notes, so today I stalked up on that end.

For example, a nearly complete set of rare and old Ethopian notes, including this one:
