As many of you know, I am narrowing down my collecting interest, and have been doing a lot of "house cleaning" and selling as I pare down my accumulation of coins. I would like to thank everyone who has made purchases from me over the last few weeks, it is much appreciated. As a gesture of gratitude, I am going to give away this set, which was an odd-ball (the only specimen set that I have) that I picked up a while back.
These are the double cent sets, issued from 1971-1980 only. They are listed in Krause as "custom proof-like sets", and this particular set is listed as KM#CPL9.
All coins in the set are blast white, great looking coins. The case is a reddish leatherette case that snaps shut, but the flap that has the snap has broken across the seam and is taped on. (If you display the set opened, this flaw will not be noticeable)
To have an opportunity to win this set, all I ask is that you reply to thread in a creative manner. I leave it up to you to know what your creativity level is, but let's make it good. Maybe a photograph you took, or a poem you wrote, or ........

To start the ball rolling, I will share a poem I wrote about 10 years ago.
It was John’s first day on the job.
I remember it well, although it was almost 10 years ago.
He was quiet. Almost too quiet. He never spoke to anyone. Not
that he couldn’t speak, he just didn’t. I mean, we all knew that he
could speak. “Yes, sir”, “No, sir”, “Thank you”, and “Good-night.”
Those were the few words he spoke. None of us ever bothered to
ask him any questions. He was a good worker, so just leave him
alone and let him do his job. And he did do his job. And did it well.
So we all left John alone and let him do his job.
No one thought it would happen to John. But it did. One day, out
of the blue, John grabbed his chest and fell to the floor. The
foreman rushed over and started doing that CPR stuff on John.
Somebody, but I am not sure who, called the ambulance. The
paramedics tried to save him. They used those electric paddles
to shock him. It didn’t work. As they put him on the stretcher,
and covered him with a white sheet, I started to wonder.
Should we call his wife? Did he have a wife? Children? After 10
years of working side by side, I realized that I didn’t know the
man on the machine next to me. I didn’t know if he lived alone
with a Siamese cat, or perhaps uptown with an ailing mother in
a small flat. Or, maybe he was a father of 3 from the suburbs
who rode the train every morning. Was he a drinker? Or maybe
a church-going man? Did he root for the Yankees? Or maybe
the Dodgers?
That was Thursday, now it is Monday.
It is Bill’s first day on the job.........

This is the directory at the Wall. The Ranger told me that it is replaced about every two weeks and along with the flag that flies over the Wall, burned in a decomissioning ceremony. It certainly gets lots of use. And, to me, speaks volumes about dedication many Americans feel for our lost heroes.
