Hello everybody!

I discovered this fine forum earlier today and have just registered. I am, effectively, totally new to collecting banknotes, and am yet to actually make a start. The decision was only made a couple of days ago to start a collection while searching for Polish items and coming across some Zlotych on eBay. I had toyed with the idea of a note collection years ago, but I had no 'purpose' and I wasn't interested in buying a ton of notes from countries I don't care about.

But now, I have an interest in Eastern Europe, Poland especially, and World War 2. So now I actually have direction and purpose! As such, my areas of interest, in order, are:

1. Polish notes of any time period
2. Soviet notes of any kind
3. World War 2-era notes of any kind
4. Eastern Europe in general
5. Scandinavian notes

I can get pretty anal with collections so in the case of more abundant notes - such as those currently in circulation, or non-rare ones you can buy by the bundle - I will most likely eventually find some way to branch out and be more specific e.g serial numbers, signatories etc. But for now, the above varieties are my main focus.

Are there any books that specialise in European/Eastern European notes only? I've checked out the Price books but don't want all that irrelevant info.

Well, I'll leave it there. I look forward to getting stuck in!

Welcome and enjoy.

Welcome aboard, I collect mostly Ukrainian with my Eastern European notes, the only Polish notes are ones I saved from circulation in Poland. I have a pre WWII set of Polish coins, and sometime would like to venture into the banknotes.

Thanks for all the welcomes guys!

Could somebody tell me if Pick's 'Catalogue of European paper money since 1900' is good? Just how comprehensive is it? Thanks!
