I understand you why you are in love!
I think it is UNC according to the european grading, so it must be a real treasure!
What grade is in American system? Beautiful design, excelent grade, beautiful patina. bthumbsup.gif

If I bought an Uncirculated, I would be pushing up daisies, as it is I currently residing with the dog in his house out back. And he smells really bad, needs a bath very badly mad.gif

It is graded VF-30 by PCGS

That is beautiful. Probably worth a session in the dog house. hysterical.gif Tell fido I said hello. He's probably not too crazy about the way you smell either.

Wow!

Lovely coin smile.gif

Didn't know much about this one but found this link:

13 stars on the reverse makes it very rare.

Bet that cost a pretty penny (laughing at own pun hysterical.gif )

That's true only of the 99/98 overdate. Most 1799's with the normal date have a 13-star reverse.

What makes this particular coin more desirable is the unmolested surfaces and overall condition. I would say this is easily a $3,000+ coin in any major auction.

Oops,

Didn't spot that doh.gif

Still in outstanding condition smile.gif

In case anyone cares....

That crack identifies this coin as B-10, BB-163, a Rarity 2 die marriage and, along with B-9, one of the most common. I believe this is die state III but there should be a small die crack from star 13 to the bust which I can't see in the pics so it may be die state II or a transitional die state. That's the best I can do to attribute this piece without seeing it in hand.

I care grin.gif I think the die cracks and so many of the characteristics and diagnostics of the coin are quite fascinating. I have to be honest, I have only kind of wanted one of these for a long time, but never really saw one that wasn't too worn, to messed with, dipped, retoned, plugged(after the mint) etc.

When I get done painting my house, I will scan at 2400 dpi so I can peak at more details of it.

Please tell me that if you make a statement like the above, that indeed, you are not married. shok.gif

Women do not forget anything. They have an amazing ability to draw up stuff from a decade ago if not more when it duly or unduly serves the favour of their argumentive side. sorry.gif

If you got it for VF 30 money you did REAL GOOD.
