So British pence do circulate in Australia!

Pulled a British 1992 10 pence from circulation the other day. It's bigger than a Aussie 10 cents so I'm not too sure how it got into a roll or any vending machine.

but why would someone bother... 10p is greater then 10 cents
True, but if Oz is the same as here then it's probably difficult to find somewhere that will convert change from one currency to another, maybe someone just wanted to get rid of it. Unfortunate for the poor person on the other end who gets short-changed with it!

Or how I once got an Oz 5 cent coin in change as a dime here in the USA?

I was roll searching one time and found a 2005 Brazil 10 centavos in a roll of Canadian pennies. I can say I never expected that!

I've received some American coins, Euros and pre-Decimal coins in my change over the past few years. I keep them all for their novelty factor.

I must admit I do like it when I stumble upon pre-decimal coins in change! Very rare these days though. Occasionally farthings, halfpennies and shillings substitute for pennies, two pences and ten pences, and they're a very welcome find indeed!

yea.. havn't seen one for many a year.. last one was a 1933 halfpenny, in Fine grade from one of those 2p machines in blackpool lol
havn't recieved an old size 5p for a while either, those are common 10p replacements.
i just love channel island ind isle of man comping up.. so low mintage because of low population, they are nice to keep

I get 2 euro cents as pennies in the UK from time to time. I don't mind at all! Would rather always get Euro as change!

I wonder how often the large size British 5p and 10p show up in Australia as 10c and 20c?
