Coins produced by the Mint of Finland

As far as I have discovered, the Mint does not publish specific details of what coins it strikes for other countries on contract. In the annual reports for example it just details order amounts, but does not always specify what denominations, year, etc.

I would like to keep track of what details are known out there as some have posted info on occasion of coins being produced by the Mint of Finland (circulating or commem). So if you know of something, please post it here and whenever possible, please add info like the denomination, year, mintmark -if any, etc. Thank you! :ninja:

Thank you gx, I did remember that. I did not include it immidiately because I do not not with certainty the years to be minted. I will post it here now and it can always be amended later if someone learns of something more definite.

Thailand

1 baht - 2006?

Here is another one - this year's Winter Olympics 10 krooni commem from Estonia.

Judging from the image at http://www.eestipank.info/pub/et/yldine/pr.../pt0206abi.html however, there seems to be no reference to the Mint of Finland on that coin.

Thank you Christian. This is a new one for me. I actually like it, even though I am not usually interested in Olympic or sports commemoratives. It is described as silver, so I guess the color is perhaps some kind of plating.

Very interesting!

Sisu, if you read the homepage of the Finnish mint, here is a quote from them:

thousand years of minting excellence

Mint of Finland is the leading company in its field in Scandinavia and the Baltic region. The operations of Mint of Finland Group are divided into production, sales and marketing of circulation and collector coins and coin medals as well as manufacturing raw materials. Mint of Finland Group's turnover in 2005 reached around MEUR 105. The Group employs about 240 people and exports its products to nearly 40 countries.

We aren't even close to forty. :ninja:

Thanks for your concern. ;) I do not think we necessarily need to reach that number. That quote refers to the entire group of mints under the Mint of Finland which includes Sweden and Norway. How much those other mints contribute to that number (40), I am not sure. However, what I am more focused on is the production of the mint located in Finland. And by chance as I was putting away the new coins from Israel that I received, I noticed that Krause had these listed as being produced in Finland (in addition to other mints):

Israel

1/2 new sheqel 5762 (2002)

5 new sheqalim 5757 (1997)

Hello Sisu!

I live in Estionia and Estonia just had 90 years from first freedom (Finland had that anniversary last year)

For that day, the Estonian Bank minted 3 coins. All in Finland ! If i remember correctly, in Vantaa.

10 krooni Silver

50 krooni Gold

100 krooni Platinum (first platinum coin in Estonia)

http://www.eestipank.info/pub/et/yldine/pa....html#10kr_2008

the last 3 coins. (EV 90= Viron Tasavalta 90)

I standed many hours in the line to get these coins. It was freezing but can you imagine that feeling when i got these ;) I bought the complete set in oak tree box. 80 euros more expensive than to buy separately.

I waited in the line cause our commemorative coins usually end up quikly and then the price would go to the sky. ;)

Coin prizes were great, just a little over melt. Platinum 7,775g and price was 400 euros, bullion value about 370 eur.

If you are intrested in buying, i may help you.

10 krooni silver is very nice coin, prize is 300 kroons=20 euros. ( I wouldn`t take nothing)The tree on it is about 5 km only from my home :ninja:

If you live in Seinäjoki or Helsinki, then there wouldn`t be any postage fee too.

Thanks for the update and offer of help. ;)

I try and visit the Bank of Estonia's museum shop when I visit there and if it is open (more often I am there on days that it is closed. ;) ) Anyhow, I have not been actively collecting new commemoratives anymore, even the Finnish ones- too expensive. In fact I have not been purchasing much of anything new recently. I am trying to focus on my crown type collection for the moment. But now I know who to ask should I need some help. :ninja:
