Hi. I was posting a few images of MPCs over in the Asylum for a posting frenzy thing that I have going on and thought perhaps posting some of them here would be interesting for some members. Please feel free to add your comments and notes that you have in your collection as well. Thanks.

I love the design on this note. Very intricate but pleasing to my eye.

I'm not up-to-date on these notes and so have no real idea of the dates for this 4th Series, or any other British MPC series for that matter. Any help?

This is an example for Japan, Military Currency produced for the use of allied troops and the local Japanese population at the end, and in the period immediately after WWII (Pick 1994: 751). They were used in Okinawa till 1958 (Pick 1994: 751). Courtesy of Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences

Fractional notes engraved by Richard M. Bower. 1 dollar note front was engraved by Edward Hein. 5 dollar note front, "Laura", was engraved by Richard Bower while the back, "Europa", was by Arthur W. Dintaman. The 10 dollar notes front design is a Marcus Baldwin engraving while the back, "Liberty", is a Richard M. Bower engraving.

 

There were three printings for this series. Each printing contained all denominations.
Denominations: 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, 50 cents, 1 dollar, 5 dollars, and 10 dollars.
This was the first series of notes used in Vietnam. The 10 dollar note was heavily counterfeited.

The $10 notes front design, "Union and Civilization" was by G.F.C. Smillie as was the back "Ceres". The front of the $20 note was engraved by F.T. Howe while the back, "The Bouquet" was by Edward R. Felver.
There was one printing for this series.
Denominations: 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, 50 cents, 1 dollar, 5 dollars, 10 dollars, and 20 dollars.
This series introduced the $20 note. In addition this is the only Series without "Military Payment Certificate" and the restrictive use clause on the face of the fractionals and the back of the $20 note.

Don't know what happened here but all of the passages that I copied had special characters in them changed. For example "$" becames $ and quotation marks became &quot. ?????

Fractional notes front "Thomas A Edison: Ethan Allen Class Submarine" engraved by Edward R. Felver. Back "Space Walk: Major Edward White" also by Edward R. Felver. 1 dollar note front, "Pilot" was engraved by Charles A. Brooks while the back, "USAF Thunderbirds" is unattributed. 5 dollar note front, "Signalman Petty Officer First Class", was engraved by J. Creamer with the back, "Eagle", being unattributed. The 10 dollar notes front design, "Special Forces Master Sargeant" is unattributed while the back, "M48A4 Patton Tank", was engraved by Arthur W. Dintaman. The front of the 20 dollar note, "Soldier" is another Dintaman engraving and the back, "B-52G", was engraved by Edward R. Felver.
There was one printing of the entire series with a second printing consisting of only the 20 dollar note.

The design of the fractional notes obverse is called "Guardian" and was done by James Earl Frasier. The reverse is an Eagle. Designer information for the reverse is not available.
The 1 dollar note reverse is "Pablo" and was designed by Marcus W. Baldwin. The front of the 5 dollar note, "Eve", was designed by Edward R. Felver and the back, "Elk", is thought to have been designed by Len Buckley. The front of the 10 dollar note is "Chief Hollow Horn Bear" by L. Schofield and the back, "Eagle", is by Charles S. Brooks. The front of the 20 dollar note is "Chief Ourey" by Noyes while the back is the "Roosevelt Dam" and the designer is unknown.
Denominations: 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents, 50 cents, 1 dollar, 5 dollars, 10 dollars, and 20 dollars.
