Here is an item the children of the 60's might remember, Although not a token, they were pocket pieces, key chain tags belt buckle inserts etc.

The centennial of the civil war, decals for the cars were popular, along with all manner of toys and celebrations. Local boy scouts had our annual jamboree themed for the civil war.

Don't really recall any of it.

Ok then it might have been due the large number of southern transplants to the auto plant jobs in the metro Detroit area every other car seemed to have the window decal with some form of depiction of a Johnny reb solider and some form of the Forget Hell statementI

I am not interested in these money makers for these small Islands. This one caught my eye having to do with veterans I thought it would make a great addition to that section of tokens.

Where are these "money makers" minted? On the small islands? Elsewhere?

Like the other "Coins" that are minted with topical subject matter like in the stamps from some countries They have no use or real cash value on the islands, no matter what the adverts say. Though they have a “face” value of $5, but you might have a hard time getting five bucks from the Marshall Islands as they are reluctant to redeem them. They use U.S. dollars but beginning in 1986 they commissioned private mints to make commemorative coins that could be sold at a premium to raise money. All the current Marshall Islands coinage are commemorative's that are marketed in magazines and newspapers. They are produced by the Medallic Art Co., Roger Williams Mint and the Sunshine Mint.

Very interesting piece. I'll be a nice collection of these and similar items could be made.

Didn't know about that place. I'll be living just over a mile away from it. I wonder if that's where the Alexandria Scottish Festival starts or ends.
