Circus
Have come across two bi-centennial quarters that have the same melting drum is this a truely an error and what type would it be called? This is a regular quarter. This is the melting drum, both are in the same shape and location. I am only posting one of the pics
Art1.2
Could be die polishing problem or some such. The die appears to be well worn and they chunked these things out in huge quantities.
Circus
This is the other one, under magnification it looks to be after the first one as this one has the rter in quarter and dolla in dollar appear to be some what flattened out. My mother had these and I would assume that they were found at the same time/roll possibly. Due to her current health issues she isn't able to answer. Circus
Thanks, I guess the consensus is they are grease strikes and just pocket change. Grease gets between the blank and die.
thedeadpoint
Ditto to what everyone said above - sorry to hear about your mother's health. And yes, that looks like grease stains. All the best!
