When is a Mintmark not a Mintmark?

Interesting article from the PCGS newsletter. Talks about a US coin that has a "Mintmark" that's not really a mintmark and also a few interesting things that I never knew. For instance, the 1925 Vancover Commemorative Half Dollars were all struck at San Francisco but do not have an "S" mintmark. Give it a quick read.

I've always been tempted to try one of those Mintmark Typesets but the gold coins really scare me off.
