Augustus

This is a nice example of a seldom seen silver quinarius (half denarius), which was struck at Emerita mint in Spain circa 25-23 bc for Augustus.

The obverse has the bare head bust of Octavian (Augustus) and the legend 'August', the reverse has Victory to the right crowning a trophy. The reverse legend is `P. Carisi Leg' (P Carisius was the Legate to Augustus in Spain and who apparently had this particular coin issued).
