The notes were intended to provide currency control to reduce the risk of hyper-inflation and keep black marketing in check. Five types of AMCs were issued. •Austria - denominated in schillings •France - denominated in francs •Germany - denominated in marks •Italy - denominated in lire •Japan - denominated in yen Notes were printed by the Bureau of Engraving and Printing in the US, Japanese Ministry of Finance for Japan and some were printed in Russia.
