amac44
Can anyone tell me more about this 1809 1 Skilling. I am about 95% sure this was hand hammered
ccg
Screw press perhaps? I don't think there were any mints left in Europe that were still hammering by 1800, though I could be wrong.

luke_idk
1 Danish skilling, minted under Frederik VI Oldenburg, King of Denmark and Norway. Struck at Altona mint. Milled coinage.
Davobenz
The fabric of this coin definitely indicates that it is milled, not a hammered product. I am a great fan of searching through the higher priced dealer's junk boxes, (AUD $4 - $20 price range), and have obtained quite a few lower denomination and lesser condition European bronze and billon milled coins from such sources. Lotsa fun in the thrill of the hunt! Have been doing this for nearly 40 years. German milled minor billon coins are particularly interesting for their volume and variation, being as they were, issued by the many small German states.
