ikaros
Very nice! I only have one BWA piece, a one-tenth penny of Edward VIII ... just because it's one of the few Edward VIII pieces.
sandy3075
A very nice and scarcer recent addition to my collection arrived from the UK - 1920 silver shilling last year before they stopped minting silver coinage in British West Africa
ikaros
Another beauty. Much as I love the UK designs, a lot of the colonial ones were just astounding.
Art
Another beauty. Much as I love the UK designs, a lot of the colonial ones were just astounding. Have to agree on that. I think the tree design here is super. I really enjoy the coins with the hole in the center as well. I guess it made them easy to carry without pockets and such. sandy3075
I'll bother you with a couple more details of the 1920-KM tin-brass shillings, I do not think I'll need to create another sepaarte thread for it for now. I have 3 of these shillings scanned and found that there are at least 2 varieties of the mintmarks - one with the equal size K and N and the other witht he large K and narrow and small N. Here is the host coin and here is the comparison of the 2 mintmarks
sandy3075
Here is another one of the infrequent coins from BWA. They were minted in adundance, although 1,6 million is the smallest mintage of the type and George VI 6 pence mintage in general. but having one without spots usual for nickel-brass is quite unusual. And it is about uncirculated, pleasant looking specimen.
