Are these coins pre-mint error missing a layer or are they post mint damage. If anyone can help please do. I found them in rolls from the bank.

the first one looks like a error. the second looks like it was in the ground, i metal detect and thats what the nickels look like when the come out of the ground.

I was going to say they look like they come out of the ground no pun intended. I too metal detect and the coins look just like the ones I have dug and cleaned. Thats two saying out of the ground lets see if others have other views. I can't see the first one good so I can't tell about it, unless it's the heads of the other tail in picture 2.

Well seeing they came from rolls, that rules out they came out of the ground, the dime might be missing some of the outer clad layer, hard to tell from that piture, the nickel on the other hand is a copper wash coin....................B.

The dime looks like it has a chance... maybe a thin clad layer... can you weigh it by chance? I would think that if it was a clad layer problem it would be a pinch light.

The nickel looks more like it was somewhere that rusted (???) it reminds me of one of those coins that get stuck in a cup holder of a car somewhere that gets wet and nasty..and then gets rolled and taken to the bank...you guys know what im talking about.... it just doesn't seem to be the right color for a copper wash in my opinion...
