Do to certain photos finally being declassified (aka I finally found the CD I brought back from the desert last year!), I am able to provide the travelogue for the Vcents. So let's begin...

Sure glad we did not move there last year.  Looks like a lot of hell on earth.

Actually, while most of the country is very barren, Doha (and maybe a couple other gulf coast cities) is pretty nice. They do a lot of forced planting and watering so you do see some greenery. Not much animal life out side of some camels and a few birds a couple months of the year, though. For the first 3 months I was there I did not see one animal of any kind on base. No birds. No nothing but people.

However, the city is very modern, westernized and clean. Well, clean as it can be since it is surrounded by a lot of desert with the common dust storms. And there is always dust and sand in the air. I wouldn't want to live there, myself. The climate is brutal during the spring, summer, and fall. Humid too which just adds to the fun. And the very rare rains in the winter, which is quit4e a bit cooler, just end up making everything a disgusting mess.

QATAR!!!!

I had the fortune of living there for a year a few years back. I wish I saw this thread earlier, I'd make sure I got to kiss that coin.

Go to the Inland Sea! Its gorgeous.
