Guest Stujoe
First year that a florin of two shillings was minted in Britain, as the first step towards decimalisation, not completed until 1971. (A bit slow me thinks). Dark tone with some areas of slight blue toning. Referred to as a 'Godless' florin due to the term "Dei Gratia" = by the Grace of God, being omitted. Davobenz
I am lucky enough to have an 1949 in about EF. It is part of my collection of British and British Commonwealth silver florins and coins of exactly the same planchet specification that has all types included except one. There about 50 .500 silver and .925 silver coins, and one .900 silver florin from Fiji. Have been working on this set for over 20 years!
